grow,
grow,
grow in a circle
grow,
grow,
grow round n round
branch out
stop in the middle
gaze at the stars
stay on the ground
free,
free,
free in a prison
free,
free,
free in the cage
fortress walls
protect and secure
safe in the boundary
live on a page
I love poems that make you think. The only problem I have is that I try to figure them out to no end! I think it's a "man" thing.
ReplyDelete:) It can mean whatever you want it to mean. Would it help if I told you that I started this one a couple of decades ago when I felt trapped by the circumstances of my life? I reworked it, much more recently, after waking from an interesting dream about a princess who was held prisoner in a lovely garden. She knew that the walls were there to protect her as much as they were there to keep her in. In the middle of the garden was a bench with several books stacked upon it. I image that she spent the hours of her confinement reading - living the adventures in those stories.
ReplyDeleteHa! That's EXACTLY what I thought it was! :)
ReplyDeleteThis powem speaks to me of the liberation that expressing oneself on a page can bring. I am so glad you are blogging, and look forward to exchanging thoughts and life experiences here.
